(Note: This applies to all versions of TMG)
TMG has two styles of Source Categories: One is based on Richard S. Lackey, Cite Your Sources (Jackson: University of Mississippi, 1980), and the other is based on Elizabeth Shown Mills, Evidence! Citation and Analysis for the Family Historian (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co, 1997). These styles are slightly different. Wholly Genes has designed TMG such that if you are using one style and wish to change to the other, then TMG will convert from one to the other by use of a conversion table. Due to the fact that there are only 14 Lackey Source Categories and 106 Mills Source Categories, the conversion will not always be optimal. Your data will not be lost, but you should review/edit each Source to make sure that the best Source Category for that Source is used. Thus it is recommended that you don't convert very often. In other words, choose which style you wish to use and stick with it.
