Notes:
This template will cover all versions of TMG. Many function keys change based on the context in which it is used. That is, depending on which screen is displayed, the exact meaning of the function key may change. Still the basic function will remain the same in most cases.
For example, if you press F2 in one of the main views (Person/Family/Tree), the Person Picklist will be displayed. But pressing F2 in a Tag Entry Screen when adding a Citation will display the Master Source List.
Similarly, pressing F4 in the Person View will display the Tag Type List for selection of a new tag to be added. But, pressing F4 while in a Tag Entry Screen will add a New Citation. And, pressing F4 in the Master Source List will add a New Source.
Some function keys are only active in certain contexts. For example, Control-F2 may only be used in a Tag Entry Screen. And F9 is only active when the More>> or <<Less button is displayed.
* The Shift Function Keys are Text Macros that you may assign yourself. Text macros can save you a lot of typing when you need to enter the same data very often. You may access the Text Macro Definitions screen from the Tools menu option. Enter the text that you wish to enter in the appropriate field (use a semi-colon(;) to represent the Return/Enter Key - to move from field to field). Then when you press Control and that Function Key, that data will be automatically entered in the appropriate fields. For example, if your entry in the first Text Macro field (for Shift+F1) is (no quotes): "Mt. Sterling;Montgomery County;Kentucky;USA" and you press Shift & F1 with your cursor in the City field, then TMG will place Mt. Sterling in the City field, Montgomery County in the County Field, Kentucky in the State field, USA in the Country field, and leave the cursor in the Country field.
When printing this template, you will need to print it in Landscape mode and reduce your margins to the minimum. It should fit easily on standard U.S. letter size paper (8.5" x 11"), and should barely fit on A4 (210mm x 297mm) paper. However, you may want longer paper (8.5" & 14") for the last few pixels of the end of the template.
