     Ford was a very caring, loving and loveable person. He reached out to people, and when they responded, his pleasure was obvious and genuine. The church was a vital part of his life and he had attended First Church for 50 years. He loved music and singing, especially church hymns He amazed his friends and family the number of songs he knew and the fact that he knew all the words to all the verses. Before his vision became so bad, he had an uncanny ability for remembering people and their names going back to earliest childhood. He had a wide circle of friends. He was neither impressed by, nor intimidated by a person's rank or status. He saw only the goodness in people. He enjoyed life and he brought a lot of joy to other people. He attended Skills Unlimited and its successor, Manor Bankhead Grant Center. It played an important role in his life for several years. He received attendance awards and the "Favorite Person Award' for 1983. Ford had an inner strength and determination that allowed him to accomplish the things that his mind deemed appropriate.³
