     Mary Jane O'Rear was born on 5 February 1823.² She married James Michael Rice II on 16 May 1843 at Clark County, Virginia.^1,2 Mary Jane O'Rear died on 12 November 1908 at Washington, D.C., at age 85.^2,3 She was buried after 12 November 1908 at Manassas, Virginia.²

     James Michael Rice II was born on 24 January 1815.² He was in the saddle and harness business in 1841 at Paris, Virginia.³ He married Mary Jane O'Rear, daughter of John O'Rear and Louisa Edmonds, on 16 May 1843 at Clark County, Virginia.^1,2 James Michael Rice II resided circa 1865 at Ovaca Farm, Paris, Virginia.³ He resided in 1887 at Roanoke, Virginia.³ He resided in 1889 at Pueblo, Colorado.³ He died on 24 April 1893 at age 78.⁴ He was buried after 24 April 1893 at Mountain View Cemetery, Pueblo, Colorado.⁴

Mantor married Harriet Haryston O'Rear, daughter of Enoch O'Rear and Catherine Elizabeth Thornton, before 1860.^1,3 Edward B. Mantor appeared on the census of 1860 at Berryville, Virginia.³

     Louise Hampton O'Rear was born in 1836 at Frederick County, Virginia.^2,3 She was enumerated with Enoch O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Fauquier County, Virginia. Louise Hampton O'Rear was enumerated with Enoch O'Rear in 1860 on the Census at Fauquier County, Virginia.⁴ Louise Hampton O'Rear married Dr. Thomas Lee Settle on 3 January 1861.¹ Louise Hampton O'Rear was enumerated with Dr. Thomas Lee Settle in 1870 on the Census at Fauquier County, Virginia.⁵ Louise Hampton O'Rear died in March 1884.^6,7 She was buried after May 1884 at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Clarke County, Virginia.^6,7 From the O'Rear Family Sketches:

Louise Hampton O’Rear was a daughter of Enoch O’Rear (no. 163) and granddaughter of Jesse O’Rear (no. 12) who lived near Paris, Va. in Clarke County. She married (3 January 1861) Dr. Thomas Lee Settle who was Surgeon of the Seventh Virginia Cavalry, C.S.A. (a part of Turner Ashby’s command.) The following account is from a description (author unknown) of the family cemetery at Liberty Hill, home of Benjamin O’Rear (no. 8) near Paris, Virginia:

“Louise H. Settle, who was an O’Rear, b. in 1833 and died in 1884 was buried at Liberty Hill. Dr. Settle, who served in the Confederate Army as a surgeon for the 7th Cavalry, regularly rode horseback from Paris to visit the grave of his wife. When he became blind he had himself driven by carriage and asked the driver to point him to his wife’s grave. When Dr. Settle (b. 1836) died in 1920 he was buried at Ivy Cemetery in Upperville and his wife’s body was moved from Liberty Hill and buried with him. A carved Italian marble bird bath now stands over the spot where Mrs. Settle was originally buried.”.⁷ She was re-buried after 1920 at Ivy Cemetery, Upperville, Virginia.⁷

     Dr. Thomas Lee Settle married Louise Hampton O'Rear, daughter of Enoch O'Rear and Catherine Elizabeth Thornton, on 3 January 1861.³ Dr. Thomas Lee Settle appeared on the census of 1870 at Fauquier County, Virginia.⁴ He died in 1920.² From the O'Rear Family Sketches:

     Adelaide O'Rear was born in 1840 at Virginia.^2,3,4 She was enumerated with Enoch O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Fauquier County, Virginia. Adelaide O'Rear was enumerated with Enoch O'Rear in 1860 on the Census at Fauquier County, Virginia.⁵ Adelaide O'Rear died on 21 November 1861.⁶ She was buried after 21 November 1861 at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Clarke County, Virginia.⁶

     Elizabeth Dagg O'Rear married Edward Wooten.¹ Elizabeth Dagg O'Rear was born on 14 September 1844 at Frederick County, Virginia.¹ She was enumerated with Enoch O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Fauquier County, Virginia. Elizabeth Dagg O'Rear was enumerated with Enoch O'Rear in 1860 on the Census at Fauquier County, Virginia.² Elizabeth Dagg O'Rear died in 1932.¹

     Edward Wooten married Elizabeth Dagg O'Rear, daughter of Enoch O'Rear and Catherine Elizabeth Thornton.¹

     Joseph Bolt O'Rear was also known as Joseph Belt.² He was born on 14 August 1819 at Flemingsburg, Kentucky.^1,3 He married Ann Haden on 12 November 1840 at Boone County, Missouri.^1,4,5 Joseph Bolt O'Rear married Katherine A. Akeman on 11 May 1843 at Boone County, Missouri.^1,4,6 Joseph Bolt O'Rear married Elizabeth Nichols on 13 April 1852 at Boone County, Missouri.^1,3 Joseph Bolt O'Rear appeared on the census of 1860 at Columbia, Missouri.⁷ He appeared on the census of 1870 at Sturgeon, Missouri.⁸ He died on 21 February 1883 at Hubbard, Texas, at age 63.^1,3

     Anna Threlkeld O'Rear was born on 17 December 1815 at Fleming County, Kentucky.^3,4 She was born in 1817 at Fleming County, Kentucky.¹ She married George Harland Sexton on 15 April 1834 at Boone County, Missouri.^1,5,6 Anna Threlkeld O'Rear was the postmaster in 1850 at Boone County, Missouri.³ She died on 17 March 1886 at age 70.⁴ She was buried after 17 March 1886 at Rocheport, Missouri, after a funeral conducted by Rev. W. T. Bolling.^4,2

     Elizabeth O'Rear married James J. Boyce.² Elizabeth O'Rear was born circa 1822 at Kentucky.³

     Benjamin T. O'Rear was born in 1829.²

     Mary Threlkeld Haden married Enoch C. O'Rear, son of Col. William O'Rear and Anne Calk, on 25 June 1835 at Boone County, Missouri.^2,3

     John William O'Rear was born on 6 January 1836 at Lexington, Kentucky.² He died on 1 August 1909 at Weber Lake, California, at age 73.²

     Thomas Henry O'Rear was born on 18 August 1838 at Lexington, Kentucky.¹ He died on 12 September 1839 at age 1.¹

     George Washington O'Rear was born on 14 November 1840 at Lexington, Kentucky.¹ He appeared on the census of 1860 at St. Charles, Missouri.² From the O'Rear Family Sketches:

                    Lieutenant George Washington O’Rear, C.S.A.

     George Washington O’Rear of Barrett’s Missouri Battery, C.S.A. was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant for gallantry in action.
     His Commander in recommending his promotion said in part:
          “He was present at the battle of Elkhorn in Ark. and as Chief of Piece in my Battery at the battles of Perryville, Ky. and
          Murfresboro, Tenn. behaved with distinguished gallantry, coolness and intelligence. His conduct during the entire time
          he has been under my command (15 months) has been above reproach both in and out of Camp. His moral qualities are
          only equaled by his gallantry and intelligence.”

     His battery was stationed above the railroad tunnel on Missionary Ridge and the marker put up by the National Park Service at
     this point bears his name. It is not far from where the late Marvin Kelly O’Rear lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the late
     twentieth century.

     His great niece Helen C. O’Rear of Kansas City, Missouri in 1947 wrote the following account of his life:
          “George Washington O’Rear was the son of Thomas Calk Orear and Susette Genevieve Orear of Lexington, Kentucky. He
          was born in Lexington on the 14th of November 1840. He was a Civil War veteran, though of what rank we do not know.
          He prospected for gold in the rocky mountains of Colorado and in the sierra mountains of Northern California.

          He was a great trial to his nieces and nephews as he would stay in the mountains just so long and then turn up at the home
          of some one of them here in Missouri. At one time he did find some gold in the Colorado mountains, but spent all he made, a
          considerable sum, on one trip to New York where he bought lavish gifts at Tiffany’s for many of his nieces and great nieces.

          When his nephew, Ed T. Orear, was Superintendant of Insurance of the State of Missouri, he gave him a job as examiner for
          the Insurance Department, which job he held for some time, but as always, without any warning he returned to the mountains.
          Many times the same thing would happen, some of the family would get him a job and think he was settled only to receive a
          card or letter from him saying he could not put up with work and was back in the mountains. One time at our mother’s
          insistance her brother, George N. Orear, after much work and expense, got him in the Home for Civil War Veterans at
          Higginsville, Missouri, and the family drew a sigh of relief thinking he was settled there for life. How little they knew their
          Uncle George! In two weeks he turned up at our home the most outraged of men because ‘can you imagine it LaBelle they
          wanted me to peel potatoes.’ After that episode he went back to the Sierras near Downieville in Northern California and
          remained there the rest of his life. Our brother and brother in law visited him there in 1925 and said he was well and happy,
          still expecting to find that elusive pot of gold. That he failed to do, however, and died at Downieville the 7th of April 1927”.³
He was enumerated with Nelson Catlett O'Rear in 1870 on the Census at St. Charles, Missouri.⁴ George Washington O'Rear died on 7 April 1927 at age 86.¹

     Mary Eliza O'Rear was born on 19 April 1843 at Lexington, Kentucky.¹ She was enumerated with Thomas Calk O'Rear in 1860 on the Census at Lexington, Kentucky.² Mary Eliza O'Rear died on 7 February 1935 at Fayette County, Kentucky, at age 91.^1,3

     Elenor O'Rear was born on 20 October 1822 at Kentucky.² She was enumerated with Robert B. O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Boone County, Missouri.³ Elenor O'Rear died on 6 August 1884 at Boone County, Missouri, at age 61.²

     Emerine O'Rear was also known as Emma.² She was born on 14 March 1824 at Kentucky.² She was enumerated with Robert B. O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Boone County, Missouri.³ Emerine O'Rear died on 4 February 1898 at age 73.² She was buried after 4 February 1898 at Columbia, Missouri.²

     Sally Ann O'Rear was also known as Sallie Ann.² She was also known as Sarah Ann.² She was born on 5 August 1829 at Kentucky.^2,3 She was enumerated with Robert B. O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Boone County, Missouri.⁴ Sally Ann O'Rear died on 4 February 1918 at Columbia, Missouri, at age 88.^2,3 She was buried on 6 February 1918 at Columbia, Missouri.^2,3

     Presley H. O'Rear was also known as P. H.² He was also known as Prestley W.² He was born on 31 December 1840 at Missouri.² He was enumerated with Robert B. O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Boone County, Missouri.³ Presley H. O'Rear married Sallie A. Grant.² Presley H. O'Rear died on 15 September 1871 at age 30.² He was buried after 15 September 1871 at Columbia, Missouri.²

     William M. Suggett was born in 1822 at Kentucky.¹ He married Frances O'Rear, daughter of John Bush O'Rear and (?) (?), on 17 May 1848.^3,2 William M. Suggett appeared on the census of May 1860 at Callaway County, Missouri.¹

     Dudley Holton O'Rear was born on 22 September 1824 at Clark County, Kentucky.^3,4 He was born on 22 September 1828 at Kentucky.^4,2 He resided with Jesse O'Rear in 1838 at Boone County, Missouri.⁵ Dudley Holton O'Rear was enumerated with Jesse O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Boone County, Missouri.⁶ Dudley Holton O'Rear married Elizabeth Talbott O'Rear, daughter of John Bush O'Rear and Elizabeth Talbott, on 8 March 1855 at Boone County, Missouri.^7,2 Dudley Holton O'Rear appeared on the census of 1870 at Boone County, Missouri.⁸ He appeared on the census of 1880 at Columbia, Missouri.⁹ He died on 10 August 1897 at Boone County, Missouri, at age 68.^10,4,11
