     Susette Genevieve Norton was also known as Susan G. She was born on 22 January 1804 at Lexington, Kentucky.² She married Thomas Calk O'Rear, son of Col. At some point, he got into trouble by killing a man named Cave in an argument over the latter's wife. He left Kentucky, moving first to Pike County, Missouri, and later to Orearville, Saline County, Missouri. Celsus Orear recalled this family moving to Orearville by covered wagon when he was a boy.² He married Olive Baron Dunn circa 1846.² Benjamin Franklin O'Rear appeared on the census of 1860 at Arrow Rock, Missouri.⁴ He died on 2 April 1880 at Orearville, Missouri, at age 71.^2,5 He was buried after 2 April 1880 at Orearville Cemetery, Orearville, Missouri.^2,5

     John Wesley O'Rear was born on 12 May 1810 at Kentucky.^2,3 He resided before 1836 at Montgomery County, Kentucky.⁴ The O'Rear Family Sketches contains a small record of the courtship of John Wesley Orear and his future bride, Elizabeth Challen. This is recorded by his letter to Elizabeth Challen and her letter in reply. The letters are as follows:

          object. In making my remarks I design being plain and pointed. I have to lived to an age which in my
          judgement should determine my regular course through life and to do this I lack one thing, that is your
          consent to spend the remainder of your days with me. You now fully understand me. My home is in
          Mountsterling where I expect to live and die. Should you consent to crown my wishes let me assure you
          my aim will be to tender you agreeable. This is a matter for life, weight it well. My friend D. Hiram will hand
          you this letter and wait your reply which I hope will be soon as I intend starting east as soon as my brother’s
          health gets better and would be happy to have you in company. On reading this letter your mind may be
          brought to a conclusion. If it should not be favorable, be so kind as to hand this back to my friend Hiram
          who will again return it to me and the matter perfectly at an end.

Jesse O'Rear died on 4 September 1903 at age 76.^4,2,10 He was buried after 4 September 1903 at Saline County, Missouri.^1,10

     Elizabeth O'Rear was born on 24 March 1822 at Kentucky.^2,3,4 She married Benjamin O'Rear Marshall, son of James Pede Marshall and Susannah O'Rear, in 1841.¹ Elizabeth O'Rear witnessed the death of Benjamin O'Rear Marshall on 29 September 1847 at Mt.      James Robert Marshall was born circa 1844 at Kentucky.¹ He was enumerated with Robert Catlett O'Rear in 1850 on the Census at Montgomery County, Kentucky.² James Robert Marshall rode with Quantrill in the Civil War between 1860 and 1865.³ He was living in the residence of his nephew, James Robert Marshall in 1900 at Saline County, Missouri, when the Census was taken.
