O'Rear had a son by Clara Davis Norvell. Other sources state that they did not have any children. If there was a William Norvell O'Rear, the conjecture is that he may have been Clara Norvell's son by an earlier marriage.6 George V. O'Rear was elected Sheriff in November 1922 at Walker County, Alabama.7 He was a coal mine owner and operator, and a sheriff.2 He was indicted by the grand jury for willful neglect of duty, incompentence, and mistreatment of prisoners. He denied the charges, resigned from office saying that he was not financially able to defend himself at an impeachment trial. in 1924 at Walker County, Alabama.7 He was employed by O'Rear Coal Company as General Manager before 1927 at Drifton, Alabama.7 He died on 12 May 1927 at Jasper, Alabama, at age 45.2 He was buried after 12 May 1927 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Jasper, Alabama.7
