During this time while in Jacksonville, Florida, he had measles which affected his lungs from 27 May 1898 to 31 October 1898.⁴ He married Julia Andrews circa 1905.¹ Simeon Arcaster O'Rear married Alma Ozella Parvin on 15 October 1908 at Jasper, Alabama.¹ Simeon Arcaster O'Rear appeared on the census of 1910 at Walker County, Alabama.⁵ He applied for a pension on 19 August 1929 on 19 August 1929; which was approved.⁴ He died on 14 June 1960 at Jasper, Alabama, at age 81; due to prostate cancer which had metastasized to other parts of the body.^6,3 He was buried after 14 June 1960 at Oakhill Cemetery, Walker County, Georgia.⁴
